VELKÉ LOSINY
The history of the town has a long connection to the Žerotín family; from the second half of the 15th century the town belonged to the family as security, and from 1507 as a fixed part of their property. The most interesting features of the town were created after this period, including the chateau, the handmade paper factory, both sacred and secular buildings, and a spa. The local spa treats adult nerve disorders and children's breathing disorders.Extra tip

HANDMADE PAPER FACTORY
This unique cultural monument was founded at the end of the 16th century in the local domain of the Moravian Lords of Žerotín. During the 17th and 18th centuries the factory supplied mainly writing paper, scratch paper, and cardboard to the surrounding areas. The expansion of industrial paper production across Europe in the mid-19th was the cause of difficult production and sales troubles for paper manufacturers and led to their quick demise. Production of handmade paper managed to continue in Velké Losiny thanks to the enterprising skills of Anton Schmidt, who bought the paper factory in 1855.
VELKÉ LOSINY CHATEAU
One of the best known landmarks of Velké Losiny is the Renaissance chateau with arcades, frescoes, and sgraffito located on the southern edge of the town. Today's appearance of the chateau is formed by the most imposing three-winged area of the so-called "high chateau" on the northern side with distinct tri-level arcades.
THE PAPER MUSEUM
The displays in the museum will introduce visitors to the history of paper and its production from the oldest periods to the present. The tour also includes a detailed view of the entire production process and visits to the most important work stations in the production of handmade paper.
